Artist's Depression is a self portrait inspired but Conrad Felixmuller's block print, Depression in the Studio. I was real inspired by his work because I was struggling with creating art at the time. I found myself with art-block both for school work and for drawing outside of work. I couldn't even doodle on my homework pages like I used to. Because so much of my art is my identity and what I work for I found myself slipping into a depressive state where I felt unmotivated to do anything. This became a cycle as drawing and creating art is usually how I cope with such feelings. I was researching Felixmuller for my comparative study and that's when his block print really stood out to me. Knowing that even such large artists go through this was helpful for pushing me through the very rough patch I was going through.
